The Galle National Museum is just a few kms away from Nuwara Eliya. It was constructed in 1656 in one of the Dutch buildings of the Galle Fort. It is well known for preserving the local cultural and traditional heritage of Sri Lanka. Numerous anthropological and archeological relics found in the southern part of the country are stored here. You can also see interesting jewe objects that are made of turtle shells.
