An museum near Newara Eliya that is constructed within the Galle Fort in a Dutch warehouse located above the Old Gate of the fort. It is reported that the building and the museum, both survived the 2004 tsunami but the most of the maritime archeological artifacts were lost during the flood. It was then renovated with the assistance of the Royal government of Netherland and was reopened to the public after three years from the incident.
