Nasik is one of the four locations for the celebrated Kumbh Mela and attracts pilgrims in hordes during that time. During the Kumbh pilgrims take dips in the holy waters of Kushavart in the Trimbakeshwar Temple and Ramkund on the Banks of Godavari River depending on their sect. It is one of the biggest cultural and religious attractions of Trimbakeshwar. Besides the Kumbh Mela, The temple is the location of a lot of religious rituals like Kalsarpa Shanti, Narayan Nagabali and Tri Pindi Vidhi. The rituals are usually performed at the temple on request of the patrons and devotees, for special purposes. Most Hindu festivals are celebrated in Trimbakeshwar with special emphasis to celebration of the Maha Shivaratri.
