Asoka Pillar In Lumbini

This is constructed in the memory of Indian Emperor Asoka’s visit to Lumbini and was built in 249 BC. This is a sandstone pillar. This pillar was lost and rediscovered in 1896 by Khadga Shumsher Rana, the Governor of Palpa. It is successfully restored to the front of MayaDeviTemple.
