Moscow’s circuses are very popular and children will have a great time. Moscow State Circus is a very famous one.

This monument can be found right in front of the Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow; at the Red Square. This bronze statue is made to honor Prince Dmitry Pozharsky and KuzmaMinin who formed a volunteer army of Russian people and forced out the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from the city of Moscow. And with it ended the Time of Troubles in 1612. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of this occasion, the Free Society of Lovers of Literature, Science and the Arts conceived this copper statue. Famous sculptor Ivan Martos designed it.

This very statue is considered to represent the Soviet epoch. The stainless steel statue is 24.5 meters high depicting two figures raising hammer and sickle over their heads. Vera Mukhina made this statue for the World’s Fair in Paris in 1937. Later it was moved Moscow.

The Izmailovsky Flea Market of Moscow is very popular and also an old one in the city. If you can strike a good bargain, you will get to buy traditional and beautiful souvenir items. You may like to visit the antique aisles, take a look at the used books, lacquer boxes or a Soviet memorabilia at this flea market. This market remains open everyday from 9 am to 6 pm but there are certain stalls that open only during the weekends. The place is pretty busy and crowded, so it’s advisable to visit early.

State Department Store (GUM) is located at the Red Square, selling very upscale items from different European brands. It is a famous store in the city where you can spend time just window-shopping or drop by a European boutique, may be. You may also visit Gastronorm Kontinental; it is a grocery chain shop in Moscow.

You can opt for a relaxed tour of the city or just sit at your hotel cherishing the day. Take sauna baths or enjoy swimming in the indoor pools of your hotel. You may also visit the cathedrals and monasteries and spend an afternoon in the serene atmosphere.

To mark the achievements in space exploration by the Soviet nation, this monument was set up in 1964. It is 110 meters tall and depicts a rising rocket. A museum is also build at the base of this monument.

This historical mosque was constructed in 1904.  It was erected near the Olympic indoor stadium; on Olimpisky Avenue. Designed by Nikolay Zhukov and several reconstructions followed. This mosque was marked as a cultural heritage building in 2008 but later it was removed from the list and was demolished in 2011. This structure happens to be the destruction of a first religious building since 1978, in Moscow. At the same site a new mosque is under construction.

This synagogue is situated in central Basmanny District, which is near Zaryadye – the former Jewish settlement. This is the main of all synagogues in Russia.
