How To Reach Skagway by Flights, Train, Air

By Air

Juneau is the main domestic airport for Southeast Alaska and there is a direct 45-minute flight from Skagway. The Whitehorse, Yukon is also one of the convenient points of entry for the air arrivals. There are also several scheduled air serviced that are available between Juneau, Whitehorse, and Anchorage.

By Sea

In the northern terminus of the Alaska’s Marine Highway System lies Skagway. There are a number of modern car carrying vessels that serves all of Southeast Alaska. Each ferry has a bar, cafeteria, an observation lounge, and a solarium where you can camp free of charge. The mainline vessels feature special stateroom accommodations. By Train

The route between Whitehorse and Skagway is splendid and you can avail both motor-coach and rail. You can easily avail a ticket on the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway which includes the bus service between Whitehorse and Fraser as well as British Columbia via the Klondike Highway. The best part is at Fraser; you can board the narrow-gauge railway for the remaining journey to Skagway.

By Road

If you are travelling by car then the best way to reach Skagway is through kagway, via the South Klondike Highway, which is just 110 miles south from the main Alaska Highway. You can hire private cars from travel agencies as well as taxis can be boarded to visit Skagway. The drive to Skagway on the two-lane highway is a smooth and easy ride and it extremely scenic and beautiful. On your way you will pass the historic community of Carcross along with gas, food, hotel, and other visitor services for your convenience. You will also pass the beautiful ruins of the Venus Mine on the Windy Arm of Tagish Lake. The highlight of the drive is the array of glaciers, waterfalls and glimpses of the White Pass Railway.
