Interlaken doesn’t have its own airport. The nearest airport is the international airport in Bern. Getting to Interlaken from Bern takes 45 minutes by road and an hour and half by train. Alternatively, you can also travel to Zurich Airport and from there, you can take a train from the airport directly to Interlaken. It takes around two hours to travel from Zurich to Interlaken. Both Bern and Zurich are connected to international flights although Zurich is more popular for travellers coming from outside Europe.
There are private buses from places such as Munich, Paris, Florence, Rome to Interlaken. The operators for these services are called Bus2alps. There are timetables which show the frequency of the buses. However, February and March are busy times as more people are coming for winter activities.
For those who love road trips, the road journey from Zurich to Interlaken is indeed amazing. It is around 120kms and the roads are perfect. However, if you are using a rental car, do remember that the overnight parking charges in Interlaken are very high.
The best way to travel to Interlaken would be by train. Interlaken has two stations – Interlaken OST (East) and West. The station is well-connected to the rest of the Switzerland, from cities such as Zurich, Basel, Geneva, Bern and Luzern. Interlaken West is closer to the city centre although most trains will stop at both stations. Travelling to Interlaken by train offers some scenic vistas and gorgeous views that are indeed quite spectacular.
By Bus
There are several local buses which can be used to ferry passengers to various parts of the town. Typically, the hotel where you are staying will issue a visitor travel card which you can use to get around the city for free in buses and trains.

There are several car-rental companies as well as taxi services which can be used to travel around in Interlaken.
By Train
Travelling anywhere locally in Switzerland is actually quite easy thanks to the extremely efficient Swiss Metro. It’s also very cheap and it’s a great help if you get the Swiss pass as it will bring you several nifty discounts.
By Bicycle
Since Interlaken is a small town, it’s easy to get around on bikes. There are rental agencies from where you can get all sorts of bikes such as road bikes, all-terrain bikes and e-bikes for hire.
By Foot
The charming town of Interlaken is quite small and it’s quite fun to walk around and explore all the different places here.
By Horse Carriage
Quaint and charming, you can also take a ride on a horse carriage and enjoy the old-world sort of feeling as you go around the town at a slower pace.
