How to reach Christchurch

By Air

Christchurch International Airport is a major transit airport with international flights from Australia, Japan, Ho Chi Minh City, and Singapore. There are also direct flights from Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, Dunedin,NelsonandInvercargill.

By Sea

Gone are the days that traversing from the port town of Lyttleton meant treading the steep Bridle Path. You can enjoy a boat ride that links the port to the city.

By Rail

There is a daily train service to and from Picton timed to meet ferry sailings to and from Wellington. So you can spend the morning enjoying the Picton ferry while you can board the train in the afternoon.

By Bus

You can avail bus services from Picton (North) and Dunedin (South).

By Road

State Highway One, which is the main north/south connecting road in New Zealand passes around the western edge of the city, past the airport. State Highway 73 goes to the west, over Arthur's Pass and on to the west coast. From SH73 you can also access Mount Hutt and other regional skii-fields.
