The Ignite bar offers a mix of Indian and Soca music. Here, people from the crowd hailfrom different walks of life and thus it makes for an interesting place to make new friends. There are also some really cool sports bars in George Town; Windies and Le Bistro offer a wide range of drinks and food.

Do visit the Parika market on a Sunday which is located at the west coast of Demerara for a wide range of merchandise such as hammocks, bowls, bows and arrows etc.

There are many new malls and superstore that have opened in many towns in Guyana.

Georgetown has some of the best restaurants such as Hacks Halaal for grilled items, Roti Hut that sells French breads and pastries; for fast food, Churches Chicken is a good place. There is international chain of fast food store like KFC too. All typesof international cuisinesare available including the most popular Chinese for which Buddy’s Mei Tung is quite famous.

Steak, pork, chicken are staple food here. Specialties include Fo-foo or plantain cakes, split pea soup, pepperpot a meat stew.

For live band performances you must visit Le Meridian Pegasus. There is a wonderful mix of the 70s and 80 s that bands play along with other genres such as Indian, Reggae and Soca for some great moves on the dance floor. El Latino on weekends is also worth a try.
