Chad Tourism

This used to be the biggest freshwater lake and a major tourist attraction but it has now started to dry up. It is located in the far western part of Chad and a part of it is in N’Djamena too.

Surprisingly the country has a very lively nightlife even though alcohol is not drunk in public out of respect for the Islamic traditions observed by the region. There are plenty of nightclubs, pubs and bars that you can visit to unwind after a log and tiring day.

The market at N’Djamena historic quarter is undoubtedly the best place to shop on Chad tours. Tourist can get different types of handicrafts produced by the local artisans here. You can purchase the most colourful jewellery, rugs and various accessories from the market. The market is open from 7.30 in the morning till sundown.

Visit the Church in Fort Lamy and the mosque in Abéché and N’Djamena, while in Chad.

It is known as the Musee National N’Djamena and as the name suggests it is located in the capital city. Established in 1962, this place is home to many artefacts of historical importance, although many have been lost in the past few years.

This is the most popular destination mentioned in Chad tour packages too due to is large area (305, 000 hectares) and home of numerous wildlife. You can go on a guided safari and easily spot herds of giraffes, primates, elephants, wildebeests, lions wandering about freely. The indigenous cultures in the days when the Sahara used to be green have left numerous remarkable drawings and carvings on the cliffs of Ennedi and Tibesti mountains that speak tons about the past.

In the Tibesti Mountains, south from Bardai are many cliffs that look very different in their coloration due to an interesting fact.

It is a volcano located in the Tibesti Mountains of the Sahara. The caldera is 8km wide and has a depth of 1 km.
