Myanmar has its own share of natural attractions. Some of the famous attractions includeTwante which is a small town noted for its pottery and weaves. To reach Twante one has to ride a rickety ferry which is an experience on its own. Another natural attraction is Hpa-an where many Buddhist caves are located and exploring them provides a thrill of its own. There are many islands nearby kissed by the clouds and a sight to withhold for many a days.

The most famous landmarks comprise of Bagan temple, Mergui Archipelago, Monywa city, Shwenandaw monastery and Shwedagon Pagoda.

Burmese Cuisine has been highly influenced by its neighbouring regions. Hence one can find the taste of China, India and Thailand all blended in one. Pickled prawn salad, wheat noodle salad, samosa salad with onions and cabbage, mixed vegetable and prawns, papaya salad mixed with dried shrimp are some of the popular dishes of this land.

Music, bars and pubs you name it and you can find it all here. There is enough night life in Myanmar to keep you awake all night. Club 369 is one of the safe and good places to go. The palace or The Emperor club offer company for the night. There is Live Music bands and karaoke nights as well. For cultural show lovers ‘The Moustache Brothers Show’ is a must watch. There are many street stalls which offer coffee and drinks throughout the night along with music.

The Burmese handicrafts are a delight to buy for gifts and personal use. Since many Burmese have no other source of income other than hand crafted products, the tourist money is put to good use too. The FXB outlet has fabric based products which include soft toys, rugs, cushions and many more. The Elephant house sells high quality lacquere wares which are adorable as gifts. One can easily spend a whole day wandering around BogyokeAung San Market which has shops selling everything one can want.

Burma has been influenced by its neighbouring regions in the field of culture. Thailand has shown its presence in the dance forms of Burma. Many dance shows are held in the evening in the hotel compound for the tourists. The music and dance of Burma is soul touching and very dignified.

Myanmar has so much of adventures to offer to its tourists. Swimming and water sports are available at the Kanthaya Beach, Maung-ma-gan Beach, Nagapali Beach and Chaung-tha Beach. These beaches are very beautiful with crystal clear water. Once you go for scuba diving at Mergui Archipelago, you never forget it in your lifetime. The Maykha River in Kachin State has thrilling white water rafting. Walking and Rock climbing at Kalaw also is a thrilling experience. A cycling tour can also be availed which makes you feel the serene and scenic beauty of Burma.

The Lakyun Set Kyar is a tall statue situated in Myanmar and is considered the world’s second tallest statue. This is a statue of Gautam Buddha in the village of KhatakanTaung and was built over a period of twelve years. It was built by the Chief Abbot Ven. Burma is scattered with enormous Buddhist monuments. The most significant stupa is the Shwemawdaw Pagoda where people flock in hordes to see in the magnificence of the monument. The Golden Rock Pagoda is another historic monument which is breathtakingly beautiful. It is perched up on the brink of a precipice, but reaching this place needs a healthy body as you are required to climb an hour’s uphill climb.

Though Burma does not have any official religion, Buddhism is followed here by nearly 89 per cent of the whole population. Buddhism is practised here with enthusiasm and a large part of population consists of monks. Burma has innumerable Buddhist Pagodas and stupas.
