Chitwan has a tropical climate and is humid all the year. Summers are from March to June and the temperatures peak during the month of May. Humidity is lowest in March and the nights are cold during April due to the south-westerly winds. Monsoon begins during the end of May with proper showers during mid-June till late September. These times of the year receive the maximum rains and might be unsuitable for travel. Winters start from October up to end-February. January is the coldest month with temperatures reaching freezing point. If you are willing to travel on the latter half of the year, it is advisable to do so before December to enjoy the best of Chitwan’s flora and fauna.
