The winter season begins in May and ends in August.April and May have pleasant days with significant drop in night-time temperature. This is further aggravated from June to August when the days are warm and clear and nights approach freezing point. However this period is ideal to visit safari areas. Such extremes witnessed from April to August is more pronounced in the dry regions of Kalahari while areas in and around Okavango experience more moderate temperatures. September and October are well suited for big game Safaris, with the temperature climbing high and reaching as high as 40oC during peak October.November can be unpredictable, as it can follow with highs or prepare for the monsoons that hit in December and continue till March.
