The beaches of Anguilla have many food joints and cafes which dish out several delicacies popular in these islands. Some of these which are popular are Geraud’s, Bonjour Café, Tasty’s and many more. Pumphouse is the most popular hangout place in Anguilla which serves pizza, burgers and beers. Hotels have their own restaurants which often offer specialized food.

The cuisine of Anguilla is a melting pot of cuisines of several regions like African, English, French, Caribbean, Spanish, etc. Each of the early settlers brought along with them there own set of dishes which got incorporated into the lifestyle of these islands. Seafood features mainly in the island cuisine. There are varieties of it like lobsters, prawns, crab, mahi mahi, and red snapper. Cod is very popular among the natives of Anguilla. Varieties of stews and soups are made up of this. Since, coral islands do not support much livestock so options of meat are limited. However, goat and chicken can be found, but beef is imported. Again vegetation is very little due to limited agricultural activities possible on these islands.

Along the beaches of these islands there are a series of beach shacks which are a popular place to visit and have some drinks. These drinks come along with some great varieties of sea food dishes which are made up of local catch of prawns, lobsters, crabs, etc.

The city of The Valley has a number of shops and supermarkets. The capital city has a good market with shops strewn all over.

Sailing is very common along the coastline of these islands. Boat racing is the national sport of Aguilla. Several regattas are organized on the holidays through out the year which promotes this sport. The boats are more often locally designed and built which also have sponsors. The sponsoring company’s logos can be found on the body of these boats.

The sandy beaches of Anguilla are the perfect place to unwind and relax. The Meads Bay and Shoal Bay offer white sand beach overlooking crystal clear water. Tourists can simply lie around these beaches while enjoying great food and drinks or may also indulge in activities like diving and snorkelling.

The Wallblake House is one of the most interesting buildings in the city of The Valley. Built in 1787, it is the oldest remaining structure in Anguilla. This plantation house is almost in its exact condition as it was built.

The Warden’s Place is also a restored building which was built by the slaves back in 1790’s. It now houses a great restaurant which uses its 200 year old rock oven for cooking purposes.

The kids will find long beaches to play along and enjoy their day out in the sun. The water is crystal clear which is ideal for swimming. These islands were once plantation sites and hence, offer insight into plantation history.
