This is the most suitable time to visit Kaziranga National Park as the climate remains cool and pleasant around this time of the year and one can best enjoy the jungle safari rides within the park. Most of the bird species are best spotted during this time of the year.
May to October
During the summer months, the climate can be really hot and uncomfortable for riding through the jungle. It is the off-season for the tourists during this period. From mid April to mid October, the park is closed due to the monsoon
Through the Kohora at the NH 37 (National Highway no. 37) one can reach Kaziranga National Park. Private buses as well as state run buses of Assam State Transport Corporation stop here on their way to and fro Guwahati as well as Tezpur and other places in the Northern part of Assam. One can also opt for a Taxi from Guwahati to come here. The national park is 217 km away from the city of Guwahati and takes 4 hours drive to get here. One has to follow the NH 37 to come here from Guwahati. The park is also well-connected to the city of Jorhat which is 97 km away.
By Train
The closest railhead is Furkating that is 47 km away. Other accessible rail stations are at Guwahati and Jorhat that will connect you to several states across the country.
By Air
The closest air terminals to the park are at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, in Guwahati, Tezpur Airport located at Salonbari and Jorhat Airport that is the closest one about 97 km away
