How to Reach tungnath

Buses are available from Rishikesh and Dehradun, but you could reach as far as the town of Rudrapryagor Ukhimath. Afterwards, it is advisable that you hire a taxi to reach Chopta, from where Tungnath is a 3.5 kilometre trek. If you plan to drive then you can reach Rudraprayag from Rishikesh via National Highway 58 and then take National Highway 109. You will then need to take a right turn to Ukhimath. Chopta would come before Ukhimath on the same road.

There is no railway station in Tungnath. The nearest rail head is in Rishikesh, which is about 210 kilometres away from destination. From there you can either hire a taxi or get a bus till Rudraprayag or Ukhimath. After that you would need to hire a car or taxi to reach Chopta.

The nearest airport to Tungnath is Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun. From Dehradun Tungnath is about 232 kilometres. From Dehradun you will get a bus till Rudraprayagor Ukhimath. From these two places you would need to find transport to reach Chopta, which is done usually by hiring a taxi
