This is one of the largest open-air museums in India. It is situated within the 3 acres campus area at Ganapatipule. This museum has life size depictions of the life of Konkan dwellers in the ancient times.
This museum is adorned with beautiful sculptures of the revered Maratha hero Shivaji Maharaj and takes you through the various key moments of his life that are also pertinent to the history of Maharashtra. Miniature but highly detailed models of the various forts along the sea and other monuments in the Konkan area are also put on display here.
This museum also has a gallery showcasing over 450 paintings by the popular artist, Arun Dabholkar. Some of these artworks can also be purchased. There is also a spice store and a Konkan themed restaurant that serves authentic Konkan cuisine like Modak, Konkan sherbet, etc. within the museum premises.
