The National Museum located at Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat is also known more popularly as the Elephant Building as it has an elephant statue in its forecourt. It is more than two centuries old and the museum houses more than 60,000 prehistoric and anthropological artifacts, and about 5,000 archeological artifacts from Indonesia. Artefacts from other parts of Asia are displayed here as well. The museum has a very rich collection which makes it a place that you must visit when you are in Indonesia.
