The Elephant Sanctuary at Punnathur Kotta is home to more than 51 elephants and is one of the largest and unique sanctuaries in the world. A large number of pilgrims and tourists visit this fascinating spot every day. In this vast compound, there are various conveyance facilities for pilgrims and tourists to go around. The sanctuary is nearby to the Guruvayoor temple. The compound covers an area of 10 acres which was purchased by Devaswom in the year 1975. The visiting hours are from 8.00am to 6.00pm. The entry fee is Rs. 5 per adult and Re. 1 for children. An extra Rs. 25 is charged for using a camera and Rs. 1000 inside the complex.
