Before the arrival of the Europeans the First Nation tribes occupied Vancouver and the nine totem poles in the Stanley Park visually represents those days. To prevent weathering the original ones are kept in the museum Robert Yelton, the Squamish Nation artist engraved the newest of them in 2009.
