Gwalior can be a paradise for shopaholics if you are interested in traditional handcrafted items. People come from far and wide to buy the Dokra Art statues, hand woven carpets, dolls, hand woven sarees and fabrics and lacquer-ware. The shopping areas of Rajwara and Laskar are full of these items which make good souvenirs to take back. Some old shops near the chowk sell chanderi sarees which are famous throughout India. The state’s emporiums have all items stored under one roof and are priced reasonably as well. The brocade and silk sarees are found in plenty in Sarafa bazaar and the Topi bazaar has very good leather products. Gwalior also has its fair share of big malls which sell imported as well as local items. The Din Dayal Mall at MLB Road has everything under one roof. It is a favourite haunt for young and old. The Vishal Mega Mart in Madhav Rao Scindia Marg is always full as the prices here are very pocket friendly. The Skycity Mall is another place worth visiting to get good buys.
