Praslin is the second largest island in Seychelles about 45km northeast of Mahe. Praslin is considered as one of the most beautiful destinations in this world. It’s practically mesmerising with its white sandy beaches bordered by rows of palm trees, green tropical forests and curving hills dripping down to crystal clear waters. Away from the bustling Mahe and more towards the sleepy La Digue, the Praslin Island is a perfect blend of a small population, a Natural heaven and laid-back feeling. The Praslin Island has the most prolific beaches vizAnse Lazio and AnseGeogetteor the Cote D’Or.These beaches often make it to the list of top ten most beautiful beaches of the world. The Praslin Island is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Vallee de Mai. The Vallee de Mai is famous for its flora and bird life and has the largest growth of the famous Coco-de-Mer trees.
Praslin Island can also be considered to be a great base for trips to the neighbouring Cousine Island, Curieuseor to St.Pierre. There are three main settlements- Baie St. Anne, Grand Anse and Cote D’Or. These settlements are no more than small villages from where you can obtain your daily requirements. The rest of the island is hardly inhabited and gives you a feel of quite out of everything if you like to be alone and away. You can get to Praslin from Mahe in speed ferries or you can fly down to the Praslin Airport which serves as a domestic stop. The ferry is less expensive. Inside Praslin you can easily move around in buses or you can get a bicycle on hire. Car hires or taxis are also available but a little more expensive.
