This project consists of a number of dams that are interconnected by tunnels. There are canals too which are used for harnessing the waters of the , Aliyar, ParambikulamSholiyar, Palar, Thunakadavu and Thekkadi rivers. These rivers flow at various elevations and are used for irrigation purposes and power generation.
