Mattancherry is another old neighborhood which is full of colonial buildings. The main attraction here is the Mattancherry Dutch Palace, which was built by the Portuguese and then gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was then renovated by the Dutch in 1663. There's a small museum which houses some rare art, including paintings of kings and beautiful murals from the Hindu epics.
