Also known as Kamrup-Kamakhya, this is a Hindu temple of the Mother Goddess Kamakhya. This temple is one of the oldest amongst the 51 Shakti Pithas and is located on the Nilachal Hill in western Guwahati. Apart from the main temple, there is a complex of many individual temples around that are worth a visit. The entire complex attracts Hindus and people of other faiths as well.

How to reach: Take a Cab or Auto from Guwahati Railway Station. Regular Assam Tourism buses also ply to and from the temple.
Approximate Cost: No entry fees.
Operating hours: 08.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. visiting in Afternoons is ideal to avoid crowds.
Any precautions/ must carry items etc.: Wear sober clothes as this a temple. Ensure that clothing is not constricting as you may need to bend and lean in the main sanctum sanctorum of the temple
