In the scenic region of Shimoga, rests a magnificent waterfalls that will take your breath away. The second largest drop in India, the Jog Falls will leave you marveling at nature’s myriad ways of expressing beauty. One of the major attractions in Karnataka, the falls are also world renowned and rank 13th in the waterfall database of the world. Also known as the Gerosappa Falls, Jog falls unfold into a mind blowing phenomenon during the monsoons.

Being the second largest waterfall in India after Nohkalikai falls in Meghalaya. The drop measures approximately 250 meters.
How to Reach:
Shimoga is the major railway station and the bus terminal that connects the falls with other major cities in Karnataka. The Jog falls are located at around 100 kilometers from Shimoga. You can reach the place by bus or hire a taxi. While buses take around 3 to 4 hours to reach the place, cabs can take you within two hours. The prices can be approximately Rs. 150 to 2,500 for buses and taxis respectively.

Being a waterfall, you need to be extra cautious when you are there. Carry enough water and snacks and wear shoes to prevent leeches from seeping in. Carry a camera as the trail to the falls is magnificent. Try to avoid the falls during the monsoons.
