The Guruvayoor temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. This 1000 year old temple is one of the holiest places for Vaishnavites. The temple is commonly known as Bhuloka Vaikuntham (home of Lord Vishnu on Earth). It is one of the important Krishna temples in Kerala. It has a Garuda statue nearby which is considered to greet the devotees to his master's shrine. The devotees wear typical Kerala costume while entering the temple. The male devotees wear a dhoti without shirt. Mobile phones and other electronic equipments are prohibited inside the temple. The temple is near to the Guruvayoor railway station which makes it easily accessible. This is one of the must-visit temples for the tourists.
