The cathedral is also referred to as La Seu. It is a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Palma. The cathedral was built in a place where an Arab mosque once existed. 55 metres wide and 121 metres long, the nave of the cathedral is 44 metres tall. The cathedral is designed in a gothic Catalan style with influences from Northern Europe. The construction began in 1229 under the rule of James I of Aragon but finished in 1601. The cathedral overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and Parc de la Mar.
