Bird Watching In Kashmir

At the wetlands of Surinsar and Gharana,  Bird Watching is a sheer pleasure. Known as the bird watcher's paradise, these two places are the home to many migratory birds every winter from Siberia to its abode. You can spot some of the rare species of birds like the coots, cormorants, egrets, mallards, pintails, and terns. One of the fascinating birds of this area is the Bar-headed geese which are often spotted in the Gharan wetland. It flies over the Himalayas, covering a distance of 1000 miles from the breeding grounds of Central Asia to India in just one day. There are also other bird species like Black Necked Crane, European blue whistling Thrush Vulture, Falcon, Ibisbill, Pied Fisher bird, and the Yellow-billed Magpie, which are a delight to watch for bird lovers all over the world.
