The Ambubachi Mela is celebrated in Late June each year. It marks the menstruation period of Goddess Kamakhya when the temple is closed for three days while she menstruates and reopens on the fourth day. There is a massive rush of devotees who come from across the world to receive bits of cloth that are believed to be soaked in her menstrual fluid. It is an extremely auspicious and powerful festival conducted in Assam.
