Har ki pauri

The most famous landmark of Haridwar is the bathing ghat of Har-ki-pauri. Literally meaning the footprints of the God, legends state that Hindu Lord Vishnu came to the town and his footprints were imprinted into the stone wall. It is this legend that makes it one of the holiest spots and hundreds of devotees throng the town to take a holy dip into the river Ganges. While at Har-ki-pauri, make sure that you visit the Hindu priests who are known to maintain family details in genealogy registers.
