The statue of Buddha represents the Amida Buddha, who is among the most celebrated Buddhist figures in Japan. It's a bronze statue and is around 13 meters tall, i.e., 40 feet high. The statue dated back to 1252 and was initially placed inside a wooden temple. But the temple was destroying away in the 15th century by a tsunami. Hence, the temple now stands on open grounds.
