Golden Pavilion also is known as the Kinkaku-Ji temple is the number tourist attraction in Japan. The temple is located in Kyoto and was built in the 14th century as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. The temple was rebuilt in 1955 after it was burnt down by an obsessed monk in 1950. The pavilion is gold plated and has been constructed in harmony with the surrounding gardens.

How to reach: You can take bus no # or # 205 from Kyoto Station, and the journey takes about 40 minutes and costs approx. INR 115 per person.

You can also take the train to Kitaoji Station on the Karasuma line; the journey takes 13 minutes and costs approx. INR 130 per person. You can then hop bus no's #101, #102, #204, #205 to the pavilion. The journey takes 10 minutes and costs approx. INR 115 per Person.

You can also take a taxi from Kitaoji station, the journey takes about 10 minutes and costs approx. INR 600 per person.
