Gakh is a beautiful region of Azerbaijan and has magnificent mountains, thick forests, lakes and waterfalls such as Balli, Mamirli and Ram-Rama, the highest waterfall in the country.

The “Araz” is a restaurant located in fountain square, with good food and drinks. It is always crowded with locals and tourists. Old Baku restaurant is recommended for Azeri food. Firuze is a great restaurant with amazing ambience and beautiful interiors. Namli is famous for its kebabs with various sauces and condiments. Manqal is another restaurant serving traditional Azeri cuisine. Beirut offers mezze and spicy breads.

Piti soup is a wholesome dish and full of flavour. Dolma is a traditional dish made of minced meat with rice and flavoured with fennel, cinnamon and mint. Plov is a common dish but can be prepared in many ways. Qutab are pancakes which are stuffed with meat, pickled vegetables. Badambura is a pastry filled with cinnamon, sugar and nuts. Halva is a sweet dish a speciality of Sheki and absolutely heavenly. Caspian fish and smoked cheese is a mouth watering snack option. Black tea is a national drink and taken post meal.

The Universal club is a bar cum restaurant with live music. The caravan saray has live entertainment. Phoenix Pub has live music during weekends.

One will find manyEnglish/irish pubs. The Vinnegans is a nice warm place to chill with great ambience. The Room is the only bar serving wine in the country and known for its special events on Wednesday.  Otto is one of the best bars in Baku with pool tables.

Targova Street is the main shopping area with large choice of shops from famous designers to boutiques.

Zaqatala is a town situated in the north-west Azerbaijan and offers hiking and trekking opportunities, and is a good escape from the hustle of the capital. Off-roading is among the most popular sport in the country. Most of Azerbaijan’s area is mountainous, making it a perfect place for climbing, trekking and hiking. Climbing and hiking at the Greater Caucasus mountain is popular.

Is one of the best of Azerbaijan’s architecture. Built in the 15th Century, the palace was classified by UNESCO as one of the places of outstanding value to humanity. The Divankhana of the palace is the most impressive. There are two main storey building, a tomb, a mausoleum of SeyidYahyaBakuvi, mosque, bathhouse and the Murad’s Gate.

Is another architectural gem of Baku. Many tragedies occurred in this palace and now it is protected as a monument.

This is a country which offers variety of landscapes which can be explored. Some of the sites hold immense historic values which can enrich young minds. Kids will find Sirvan National Park interesting. Cave paintings at Qobustan Petroglyph Reserve are also quite popular among kids.

Azerbaijan is a secular nation and has no official state religion but most of the population is considered Muslims. The people support all religions equally. TazaPir Mosque is the largest mosque of Baku with one of the finest buildings in the country.  Ateshgah Fire Temple is 30 kms away from Baku and was recognized as Zoroastrian worship place. It is now converted into a museum and visited by tourists all the time. H?zr?tZohra mosque is built with yellow bricks and has two minarets and a metal dome resembling a boiler tank.

The Azerbaijan CarpetMuseumpreserves the culture of Azerbaijan. The Museum houses the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets in the world. The carpets are of different weaving techniques and materials.
