Narendra Garden on the Narendra hill provides a remarkable view of the Vengurla beach. It was also the spot for the Palace of Khem-sawant before it was shifted to its present location. For navigational purpose, The Palace is the most important landmark as it is the first thing greeting visitors in Sawantwadi.

Kolgaon Archway is the300 years old stone archway in Kolgaon village marking the beginning of Sawantwadi.MotiTalao built in front of the Palace is a major geographical and historical landmark. The lake was built in 1874 by Khem-sawant III. At sunset the lake is a major gathering spot for locals who enjoy the boating facilities while soaking in the last rays of light.

Major population of Sawantwadi is Malvani with Konkani or Marathi ethnicity. In Tarkali, the Mahapurush Temple and the Sri Shivchhtrapati Temple are the ideal places to shed light on the local culture. At the time of Saptah which is the worship of Gram Devta(village deity), Dashavtara, a major ritual is performed. The region is also host to Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan held every year. Located just 30 kilometres from Sawantwadi encompasses the picturesque spot of Amboli Waterfalls. The falls are 30 metres highwith mist covering on top. Surrounded by dense forest, the falls are a sight to capture. Another 10 kilometres from Amboli you will find the Nangartas Water Fall known for its loud sound of water hitting the rocks in the mostly peaceful surroundings. Aronda-Kiranpani Back Water on the Terekhol River is a natural scenic attraction. It is nearly 30 kilometres from Sawantwadi as well. Other known natural sights with mesmerizing views and landscapes are Sagareshwar Beach, ShirodaVelagar Beach and Hiranyakashi.

Sawantwadi has a number of other tourist spots particularly close to it. You can add places like Vengurla, Tarkali, Amboli and Sindhudurg to the itinerary. All these places are marked by their distinct natural aura and tourist sites. Shiva Udyan close to the MotiTalao is a popular picnic spot among locals. The park is open to visitors throughout the day. There is another park on the north of the MotiTalao that has number of slides and an open playground for the kids.Sawantwadi also has a Shilpgram that has open gardens and beautiful plantation.

You can also head to Sindhudurg Palace Museum that houses a collection of artefacts, paintings and personal belongings like jewellery and clothes belonging to the Bhosle royal family. There is a small museum within the Sawantwadi Palace with belonging and painting s of Khem-sawant family at display.

Shilpgram in Sawantwadi exhibits a collection of local made wood crafts and artefacts.

Sawantwadi palace was the palace of ruling Khem-Sawant family of Bhosle clan constructed by KhemSawant III in 18th century.The red stone palace was decorated with Moti-Talao (Pond) in 1874. The palace has a collection of wood and clay artefacts along with number of paintings and jewellery belonging to the ruling family. Most of these paintings belong to 6th and 7th century. The palace is a hub for learning the 18th century Ganjifa Art, lacer work and woodwork and paintings.AtmeshwarTali near Vaishyawadi is a water reservoir believed to have been created 300 year ago by divine powers of Shri Damodar Swami. It is a spring of crystal clear water flowing all through the year without any connection to the nearby water resources. The spot also has a Shiva Temple unique for two Shivalings in one temple.
