The most acceptable time to visit the caves of Ellora is between October and February. Another good time to visit the caves is between June and September. The reason is that during these months, the weather is really good and one can really enjoy the mild sun. Even though the holidays are in the months between April and May, the weather conditions in Gangotri are really hot. Due to this kind of weather, it is really impossible to get inside the caves and look across the arts and carvings.
