Setup in the year 1883 on Chatham Island, this saw mill has the distinguished profile of being the oldest saw mill in Asia. In the early years of World War II, the mill was bombed by enemy forces which led it to be demolished. It revived its glory back in 1946, after which it has been functioning very smoothly.
